CLAIRE ENGLISH All of the jewellery that I make is luxurious, contemporary and very special. My unmistakably English designs are inspired by the narrative potential of the objects that surround us. My whimsical design philosophy combines my interest in wonderment, curious, collage and fine craftsmanship. I mix this up with my irreverent sense of humour to create magical and witty designs. I see myself as a 21st Century bricoleur because I am adept at presenting familiar items in mischievous and unexpected ways. I am in love with the alchemy of being able to transform overlooked and ordinary or even unattractive things into splendid pieces of jewellery , that are worn and treasured.

CATHERINE HICKS
Catherine is a designer maker from Devon who creates handmade silver jewellery which incorporates brass, copper and bead work. A fascination of birds inspires a lot of her work - drawings of birds watched from her Dartmoor studio and on travels further afield are incorporated into the designs for each piece. She tries to create designs which are delicate and include movement to evoke some of the qualities of the birds which she studies. Catherine developed her style working with bird imagery, contrasting Silver and Brass, engraving and oxidation techniques. Education 1992 De Montfort University - B.A Hons, Decorative Artefacts. I received the Wells Artists Association award for my second year project work. Frinn.co.uk

KATE SMITH. Currently based in Birmingham’s famous Jewellery Quarter Kate Smith Jewellery symbolises a passion for both original design and skilled craftsmanship, creating beautiful pieces of adornment in precious materials such as silver, gold and diamonds. The inspiration behind each of Kate’s main bodies of work has been influenced by Kate’s time spent in the Shropshire countryside and the intrinsic patterns and strong forms found within such an environment. The outcome is elegant striking and feminine Jewellery set within 6 collections that each hold their own unique style and attraction.

LUCY SYLVESTER. Walks in the countryside to collect seed heads, twigs and insects – all reflected in her work. Her interest lies in using natural forms that would otherwise decay into the ground, turning them into precious, permanent wearable pieces. From her Oxfordshire studio Lucy designs and makes jewellery for both men and women inspired by nature. Her work combines diamonds and moonstones with silver and gold twigs, leaves, beetles, cockroaches and flies.“Each new season or place visited brings fresh inspiration and objects to work with.”Lucy exhibits widely in the UK along with teaching from her studio. In 2009 Lucy was  selected by The Observer as a member of Courvoisier The Future 500, identifying her as the one to watch, she also won Editors Choice Award at the Country Living Show.“ With climate change affecting our wildlife my work could become a record for the future of the insect and plant life we have today.” 2003
